Final-corner crash costs Niewiadoma a European medal

Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney lost her chance of a European Championship medal after crashing in the final corner in Šenčur. The Polish rider had helped form the five-rider group chasing solo leader Demi Vollering and was still in contention for the podium entering the finishing straight.

Puck Pieterse won the sprint for silver, Marlen Reusser took bronze and Elisa Longo Borghini finished fourth. Niewiadoma was left without a medal after another aggressive performance, one week after finishing second behind Vollering at the World Championships.
