McNulty's rainbow debut ends in tenth place

Brandon McNulty finished tenth in his first race wearing the rainbow jersey at the Giro dell'Emilia. The American tried to animate the race but lost contact with the leading group on the final two passages over San Luca and crossed the line 45 seconds behind Davide Piganzoli.

McNulty had arrived in Italy only days after winning the world title in Montreal with a long solo attack. His autumn campaign continues in the Italian one-day races, with Il Lombardia as the principal target.
