Jarno Widar beats the stars at Tre Valli Varesine
Jarno Widar claimed the 2026 Tre Valli Varesine with a powerful sprint in Varese. The 21-year-old Lotto-Intermarché rider beat Tom Pidcock and Matteo Jorgenson after the three emerged from the decisive selection in the closing kilometres of the 196.1-kilometre race from Busto Arsizio.
Mikkel Honoré, Davide Piganzoli and Quinn Simmons had animated the finale before being caught with around 15 kilometres remaining. After world champion Brandon McNulty attacked, Widar, Pidcock and Jorgenson moved clear and reached the finish together. Widar launched inside the final 300 metres and could not be passed.
Simmons finished fourth, three seconds behind, ahead of Marc Hirschi and Pello Bilbao. Christian Scaroni was seventh and the highest-placed Italian in the final major test before Il Lombardia.
