Bernal denies retirement plans and aims to race in 2027

Egan Bernal has responded to retirement rumours by saying that, for now, he intends to start the 2027 season. In an Instagram message published on 8 October, the Colombian also noted that his contract with Netcompany INEOS runs until the end of 2029.
Bernal explained that he ended his 2026 season after the Tour de France because he needed time to rest, disconnect and regain his motivation. He wants to approach the next stage with the conviction that he can still contribute at the highest level.
His message expresses an intention to return, without settling every question about his longer-term future. He has not announced a retirement date or a confirmed race programme for 2027.
