Seixas wins his first Monument at Il Lombardia; Mas second

Paul Seixas won Il Lombardia on 10 October, claiming his first Monument and becoming the race’s youngest winner, according to the organisers. The Decathlon CMA CGM rider reached Como alone after 239 kilometres from Bergamo, stopping the clock at 5:49:28.
The Frenchman broke the race apart on the Civiglio with a sustained acceleration that eventually distanced all his rivals. Enric Mas caught Giulio Ciccone and then dropped him on the final ascent of San Fermo della Battaglia to secure second place, 48 seconds behind. Ciccone finished third at 1:05.
Remco Evenepoel and Brandon McNulty completed the top five, both at 1:20. Seixas succeeds Tadej Pogačar, winner of the previous five editions and absent this year. The victory brings the season’s final Monument to a close with a new name on its honours list.
